Meeting Kendra

What a wonderful and beautiful weekend! Phil's brother, Dale, surprised us last week when he called and said he wanted to come in from St.Louis and bring their parents to meet Kendra. They just left a few hours ago (sad to see them drive away). We had a short, but sweet visit since Friday. Not only did we get to see Dale and Phil's parents, but our sweet niece Laura came along too.

It was the first time Grandma and Grandpa got to meet Kendra McKay. We spent some time shopping consignment, relaxing outside, and sampling the local restaurants. By the end of the weekend, Carson was exhausted from playing outside with Daddy and Uncle Dale. Kendra was spoiled from being held so much, and Ally had developed a newfound bravery for "camping" out.

The Athletes of the Family

What a gorgeous night! Perfect for hanging out at the soccer field. Ally got to play her favorite position - goalie of all things! Check out that kick! Carson is well on his way to becoming a player, too. Good ball control!

Inspired...

My parents have been an inspiration. They celebrated 50 years of wedded bliss in December. We had a small party for them at the little country church where they exchanged their vows and held a reception.

Today, I did a photo shoot with them. They've changed slightly over the years but have left enormous growth marks on me. I'm sure they've seen themselves through tough times, with themselves, and with my brother and me.

The number of couples who will reach that monumental 50th year will only decline as Gen X gets older. What a special event to celebtrate these days!

I'm thankful for my parents dedication, example, love, grace, patience, endurance, and hard work. I can't wait to see Phil and me reach our 50th (not in a hurry - just want to get there). I know we'll look back on memories with smiles on our faces.

Freckles

Freckles...love them...they are darling on my little girl who isn't so little anymore... I love the way the camera captures each speckle and showcases them on her face.

She may not be delighted to have these beauty marks, but I am. They remind of days past. She's growing too quickly and soon her childhood will fade just as those freckles.

My favorite memories so far in Ally's young life aren't necessarily the "big events" but everyday life activities such as going bargain shopping and out to lunch. I also love to watch her spunk on the soccer field and most recently her avid interest in making how to videos (like "how to potty train" - too funny!).

What a joy to have a daughter - a true blessing from God. I love you, Ally.
